Discretion
Your matter is handled privately and personally. Sensitive conversations stay between you and your attorney, and every client works directly with a founding partner.
About the Firm
D&A Legal was founded to give families in Maryland and Washington, DC the strategic counsel of a large firm with the personal attention of a partner-led practice.
D&A Legal brings together two attorneys who came to family law from different directions. Kristina M. Darwood spent nine years as a litigator at a major Washington, DC firm before devoting her practice to family law, and she is a trained mediator and collaborative law professional. Nyree Adams came to the law through social work, and she has represented children, parents, and the Department of Social Services in custody cases.
Together they offer what a family matter demands: courtroom-ready strategy and a deep understanding of children and family dynamics. Every matter is personally led by a founding partner, and every client is treated with discretion and care.
Our Mission
To guide families through divorce, custody, and support with clear counsel, genuine care, and the resolve to protect what matters most.
Our Values
Your matter is handled privately and personally. Sensitive conversations stay between you and your attorney, and every client works directly with a founding partner.
Plain answers to urgent questions, honest expectations about outcomes and cost, and a clear plan from the first meeting.
Settlement when it serves you. Thorough preparation and firm advocacy in court when it does not.
What Sets Us Apart
Your matter is guided by a founding partner, not handed off. You always know who is responsible for your case.
Both partners practice in the District and in Maryland, which matters when families, homes, and cases cross that line.
Nine years of major-firm litigation and training in mediation and collaborative law mean the right path is chosen for you, not for the firm.
Years of social work and custody representation shape how we protect children through every stage of a family matter.
